In the Chinese calendar, on the 15th day of the 8th month is the Mid-Autumn Festival, a harvest festival celebrated in Chinese culture; it is also known as the Moon Festival. This festival is a public holiday in China and usually falls in September and early October of the solar calendar. Besides Chinese New Year, the Mid-Autumn Festival is another significant reunion time for families; people get together for dinners, lighting paper lanterns, eating moon cakes, etc.

Here in Xiamen city, there’s an activity called moon cake betting; it’s a unique traditional moon cake culture that has existed for hundreds of years. As an employer, Art Sign holds this activity every year. The Administration Department is in charge of purchasing necessary practical daily products, such as shower lotion, shampoo, cooking oil, towels, frying pan, microwave oven, etc.

The kits of the activity: a set of six dices, a bowl with a little depth(it is better to choose porcelain bowl to make the dice bounce). The rules is that people take turns to throw 6 dices at once into the bowl. Those who earn sufficient dots from the dice throwing, will win the relative prize accordingly.

This year, the moon cake betting was held on September 13^th, 2024. We have 11 tables, besides the above mentioned practical products, each table has a biggest prize which is called Zhuang Yuan. The Zhuang Yuan can have a red envelope with RMB1000 inside. Every employee has the same opportunity, everyone loves this betting.

After the betting, Art Sign invited all of the employees to dinner at a local seafood restaurant.  The company The boss and employees ate and drank together, all of us had a great evening.
